*పూజ* :-పూర్వజన్మవాసనలను నశింపచేసేది. జన్మ మృత్యువులను లేకుండా చేసేది. సంపూర్ణ ఫలాన్నిచ్చేది.

*అర్చన*:- అభీష్ట ఫలాన్నిచ్చేది. చతుర్విధ పురుషార్థ ఫలానికి ఆశ్రయ మైనది, దేవతలను సంతోషపెట్టేది.

*జపం*:- అనేక జన్మలలో చేసిన పాపాన్ని పోగొట్టేది, పరదేవతను సాక్షాత్కరింప చేసేది జపం. ఇది జివుణ్ణి , దేవుణ్ణి చేస్తుంది.

*స్తోత్రం*:- నెమ్మది నెమ్మదిగా మనస్సుకి ఆనందాన్ని కలిగించేది, సాధకుని తరింపజేసేది స్తోత్రం.

*ధ్యానం*:- ఇంద్రియ సంతాపాన్ని మనస్సుతో నియమింప చేసేది.

*దీక్ష*:- దివ్యభావాలను కల్గించేది. పాపాలను కడిగివేసేది.సంసార బంధాల నుండి విముక్తిని కల్గించేది దీక్ష.

*అభిషేకం* :- అభిషేకం చేస్తే , చేయిస్తే సకల శుభాలు కలుగు తాయి. అభిషేకం అహంకారాన్ని పోగొట్టి పరా తత్వాన్ని అందిస్తుంది.

*మంత్రం*:- తత్త్వం పై మననం చేయడం వల్ల భయాల నుండి రక్షించేది మంత్రం. అఖండ శక్తి నీ ఇస్తుంది.

*ఆసనం*:- ఆత్మసిద్ధి కల్గించేది, రోగాలను పోగొట్టేది, క్రొత్తసిద్ధిని, లేదా నవసిద్ధులను కల్గించేది ఆసనం.

*తర్పణం*:- పరివారంతో కూడిన పరతత్త్వానికి క్రొత్త ఆనందాన్ని కల్గించేది.

*గంధం*:- గంధంలో  సర్వ దేవత కొలువై ఉన్నారు. మేము కూడా మీ పూజలో ఉండేలా వరం ఇవ్వు తల్లీ అని దేవతలంతో అమ్మవారిని కోరారు. 

అప్పుడు అమ్మవారు మీరు గంధంలో కొలువై ఉందురుగాక అని వరం ఇచ్చారు. అప్పటినుండి గంధానికి పూజలో ఉన్నత స్థానం లభించింది.

*అక్షతలు*:- కల్మషాలను పోగొట్టడం వల్ల తత్ పదార్ధంతో తదాత్మ్యాన్ని కల్గించేవి. పసుపు, కుంకుమ,నూకలు (విరిగిన బియ్యం) లేని మంచి బియ్యం కలిపి చేయాలి.

*పుష్పం*:- పుణ్యాన్ని వృద్ధిచేసి, పాపాన్ని పోగొట్టేది. మంచి బుద్ధిని ఇచ్చేది.అలాగే ముండ్లు కలిగిన పువ్వులు వాడితే కష్టాలు వస్తాయి.

మంచి సువాసన కలిగిన పువ్వులు వాడితే శుభం కలుగుతుంది.

(ఈమధ్య పుష్పాలను చించి రేకలను విడదీసి వాడుతున్నారు. అలా చేయవద్దు. కాగాతొడిమలను తప్పకుండా తుంచివేశాకే పుష్పాలను పూజలో వినియోగించాలి.

*ధూపం:*- చెడువాసనలవల్ల వచ్చు అనేక దోషాలను పోగొట్టేది. పరమానందాన్ని ప్రసాదించేది. ధూపం ద్వారా చాలా మంచి జరుగుతుంది. ప్రేత , పిశాచాలు పారిపోతాయి.

*దీపం*:- సుదీర్ఘమైన అఙ్ఞానాన్ని పొగొట్టేది. అహంకారం లేకుండా చేసేది. పరతత్త్వాన్ని ప్రకాశింప చేసేది. ఈ దీపం జ్ఞానానికి సంకేతం. 

పూజగదిలో దీపం వెలిగిస్తే ఇంట్లో ఉన్న దుష్ట ప్రభావం దగ్గరికి రాదు. అగ్నిశివుడి కుమారుడైన కుమార స్వామికి ప్రతీక.

*నైవేద్యం:- మధుర పదార్థాలను నివేదన చేయుటయే నైవేద్యం.*

*ప్రసాదం*:-భగవంతుడికి నివేదించిన నైవేద్యమే ప్రసాదం. ప్రకాశానందాల నిచ్చేది. సామ రస్యాన్ని కల్గించేది. పరతత్త్వాన్ని దర్శింపచేసేది ప్రసాదం. ప్రసాదం భగవదనుగ్రహ సంకేతం. అత్యంత పవిత్రమైన పదార్థం.ఏ రూపంలోని ప్రసాదాన్నైనా ప్రసాదం అని మాత్రమే వ్యవహరించాలి.ఇటీవల అందరూ ‘పులిహోర’, ‘కొబ్బరి’ అని అనడానికి అలవాటు పడ్డారు.అలా అనకూడదు. పులిహోర ప్రసాదం, కొబ్బరి ప్రసాదం అనవచ్చు.

*వందనం*:- అష్టాంగాలతో కూడిన నమస్కారం వందనం. చేతులు జోడించి కూడా వందనం చేయ వచ్చు. సాష్టాంగ ప్రణామం అంటే వక్షస్థలం,శిరస్సు, మనస్సు, మాట, పాదాలు, కరములు, కర్ణాలు, నేలకు తాకించి చేసే వందనం. ఈ సాష్టాంగ ప్రణామం పురుషులు మాత్రమే చేయాలి. ఇది స్త్రీలు చేయరాదు. స్త్రీలు మోకాళ్ళ పై భగవంతుడికి వందనం చేయొచ్చు.

*ఉద్వాసన*:- ఆవరణ దేవతలను పూజించి, పూజను ముగించడాన్ని  ఉద్వాసనమని అంటారు. చివర్లో  ప్రార్థన , దోష  క్షమాపణ చెప్పి తీర్థ , ప్రసాదాలు స్వీకరించి స్వస్తి చెప్పి ఉద్వాసన చేయాలి.🔔

Thaipoosam is an important festival dedicated to Lord Muruga or Kartikeya. It is observed in the Tamil month of Tai or Thai (January – February). It is celebrated mainly by the Hindu Tamil speaking community in India (especially in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh), Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka and in many other parts of the world.

Thaipusam Story

Thaipusam is celebrated to commemorate this victory of good over evil.

Sages were fed up with the troubles created by demon Tarakasur and his lieutenants on the living beings in the universe. They complained to Shiva and he instructed Muruga to help them. Shiva gave him eleven weapons and Mother Parvati presented the most powerful ‘Vel.’ Muruga killed all the demons including Tharakasuran on Pusam star in the month of Thai with the Vel. Thaipusam is celebrated to commemorate this victory of good over evil.

How Is Thaipusam Observed?

The most important event on the day is that of devotees carrying various types of Kavadi to the Murugan temples. The most important Kavadi pilgrimage takes place at the Batu caves in Malaysia.

Thaipusam is the climax of an entire month spent in spiritual preparation with a strict vegetarian diet. Some people do this Vrat or spiritual austerities for a year or six months

It is believed that only when the mind is free of material worth and the body free from physical pleasures can a devotee undertake the sacred task without feeling any pain. It is said that the devotees who undertake spiritual austerities before Thaipusam do not feel pain when the lance is pierced in their body.

Thaipusam In India

This annual festival coincides with temple festival in several Murugan shrines across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. All Murugan shrines observe the day with fervor and vigor. Apart from pujas and usual rituals associated with Thaipusam, there is also the pulling of the chariots of Muruga.

Thaipusam In Singapore

Thaipusam is one of the oldest Hindu festivals in Singapore. It is not for public puja and long processions.

Thaipusam festival generally lasts for 2 days in Singapore. On the eve of the festival, the chariot procession with murti of Lord Muruga begins from Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road to Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple at Keong Siak Road. The procession goes through 4.5 km road. 

The puja and rituals on Thaipusam day starts very early morning. As part of the ceremony, the first batch of devotees carry milk pots and wooden kavadis. Some pierce their tongues with skewers and carry a wooden kavadi decorated with flowers and peacock feathers balanced on their shoulders. Other devotees carry spiked kavadis that require elaborate preparation.

Thaipusam In Malaysia

Thaipusam festival reaches an unbelievable and unexplainable dimension in Malaysia, especially at the Batu Caves. One of the Sanskrit words for cave is ‘guha’ and one of the names of Lord Muruga is also Guha since he likes to live in caves.

On the Thaipusam day, the air reverberates with the chants of Vel, Vel, Shakti Vel and thousands of devotees carry kavadi, symbolizing the mountain lifted by Idumban. People start carrying the Kavadi from early morning on Thaipusam day. Women devotees carry the pal kudam (milk pots) and couples who had their wish for offspring fulfilled carry their babes in cradles supported by sugarcane sticks.

The procession to the Batu Caves also includes people who pierce their tongues and cheeks with Vels of different sizes and people who pull chariots with hooks pierced to their skin.

All forms of Kavadis and other offerings performed on the day are to the fulfillment of vows for wishes granted and others for getting their wishes fulfilled by Lord Muruga.

In Malaysia, Thaipusam is also observed at the Nattukottai Chettiar Temple and the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Hilltop Temple in Penang, Johor Baru Sri Dhandayuthapani Temple, Sri Subramaniar Temple in Gunung Cheroh and in Buntong Sri Subramaniar Temple.

There is one popular story that describes the origin of Vishnu Sudarshan Chakra. Once it so happened that the cosmic gods were suffering badly at the hands of the demons. They decided to seek the help of Lord Vishnu. So, they approached Lord Vishnu and requested Him to protect them from the demons or Asuras. At this, Lord Vishnu told the Devtas (cosmic Gods) that He did not possess the necessary weapon that was required to defeat the demons.

However, Lord Vishnu consoled them that He would seek help from Shiva and requests Him to give a special weapon that could overpower and defeat the demons

Finally, after many years, Shiva came out of the state of trance.

Lord Vishnu’s joy knew no bounds. He ran and gathered one thousand lotus blossoms so that He could worship Lord Shiva and ask for a special boon. Shiva was immensely pleased with the prayers of Lord Vishnu. However, he decided to test Lord Vishnu’s devotion towards him. So, Lord Shiva secretly stole one of the lotus flowers. Now, there were only 999 lotus flowers. Lord Vishnu started to worship Shiva and offered Him the lotus flowers while chanting Lord Shiva’s name.

At last, Vishnu found that one lotus flower was missing. He had only counted 999 lotus flowers. It meant that Vishnu had to go and search for yet another lotus flower. However, instead of doing so, Lord Vishnu plucked one of his eyes and placed it in front of Lord Shiva. Seeing such immense devotion of Lord Vishnu, Shiva exclaimed, “I am extremely pleased with your devotion. I will grant anything that you want”. Hearing these words, Vishnu requested Lord Shiva to give him a powerful weapon that can easily overpower all the demons. Lord Shiva then gave Vishnu the Sudarshan Chakra that would help Vishnu to conquer all his enemies.

The Sudarshan Chakra has 108 serrated blades, and has the ability to travel several million yojanas (1 Yojana = 8 kms) at a blink of an eye. Once out of finger, it chases the enemy and will not return without the intended result. The enemy can only stop it with his own death.

Vishnu chakra used at ?

Chakra was used to cut the spiritual mountain of Mandrachal Parvat at the time of Samudra Manthan.

The Sudarshan Chakra was used by Lord Vishnu to separate the body of Sati into pieces and make it fall on the earth. Lord Shiva was carrying the body of Sati who had given her life by casting herself in a Yagna organized by her father, Daksha. Lord Shiva was in immense sorrow and was not willing to leave the body of Sati for cremation. Lord Vishnu used the Sudarshan Chakra and cut the body parts of Goddess Sati. The places where these 51 body parts of Sati fell came to be recognized as “Shakti Peethas.”

There were instances when Lord Krishna used the Sudarshan Chakra. Lord Krishna used the Sudarshan Chakra to kill Shishupal after he had committed a hundred sins.

Lord Krishna also used the Sudarshan Chakra to create an illusion of sunset at Kurukshetra that helped Arjun to kill Jaydrath. It is also believed that when Lord Krishna raised the Govardhan Mountain, he held the Sudarshan Chakra below it.
